Nobody’s self-image should be linked to a product

It's time to protect the children from believing a brand is somehow going to make their lives better.

When a young person’s self-image is dependent upon the brand on their clothes or the products they purchase, you know the world has gone a step too far.

Branding; the work of marketing has done a great job of associating self-worth with products, however, I think it’s time to educate the young people against the dangers of believing what marketers are preaching.

It’s time to teach all children that their self-worth is based on their thoughts and good deeds, not on what brand they’re wearing because brands are only short-term crutch that doesn’t help them with the true issues they will face in life.

When they get their heart broken for the first time, telling the person that did it that they’re wearing L’Oreal is not going to heal their hurt any faster.

“Defence against the dark arts (marketing) will be coming to a school near you.” ~One day, perhaps.
