Everybody appreciates positive independent people

A can do attitude will win every time

I love people with a “can do” attitude because they’re always a pleasure to interact with.

For example, the other day I had the privilege of speaking with two people who were the complete opposite of each other; one had a negative dependent attitude while the other had a positive independent attitude.

The person with the negative dependent attitude was able to come up with a number of excuses for not doing a simple job; most of the excuses began with, “what if,” the person was using their imagination to create obstacles that didn’t exist outside of their mind. One of the excuses was, somebody might hit my door when I’m getting out of my car. I offered some advice but the person really didn’t want help, they wanted somebody to do the task for them. (The task was to post a registered parcel.)

The other person had a more difficult task to accomplish but after receiving a little advice, the person attacked the task with gusto. A little while later the person completed the task and appeared to be really grateful for my help, needless to say, my advice helped but without their attitude towards getting the task done, the task would not have been completed. (The task was to fix a wireless router.)

The difference between the two people was one had a “can do” attitude towards life while the other had a “why should I have to do it” attitude.

How or why they developed their attitudes is something I will never know. The only thing I know is; I love people who have an positive independent attitude because they appreciate people who help them to help themselves. I’ll leave you with one of my favourite quotes;

“Everybody appreciates positive independent people with a “can do” attitude.” ~Anon
