Nobody, but you have all your memories

Do not project your memories onto anybody

“You wouldn’t worry so much about what other people think of you if you realized how seldom they do.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt.

If you’ve lived long enough you’ll have created thousands of memories from everything you’ve done; depending on your mindset on any given day, you may be remembering all the positive things you done or if you’re not feeling so good, you may remember all the things you’ve done that embarrassed you.

The most important thing to take from that paragraph is, “You were thinking about you.” You were not thinking about what other people thought of you; it’s the same with other people, they spend most of their time thinking about themselves too.

If you are one of those people who are concerned about what other people think of you; You can be assured their opinion of you is always going to be wrong. They will only have seen a very small portion of your life on which they are basing their opinion.

An example of this can be seen in any animated cartoon; in 30 seconds of filming there is 720 frames. If somebody has only seen 20 frames, do you think they would be able to analyse the whole cartoon? No is the answer. It’s the same with your life, most people apart from your family will only have seen a few minutes of your life and anybody who forms an opinion based on so little information is not worthy of your thought, let alone your worry.

You are your only judge.

The only person’s opinion you should worry about is your own, and if you believe you are doing everything you can to make your life better every day, that’s enough information on which to base your opinion of yourself.

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” ~Reinhold.
