To think or not to think

Age, education, and experience are not an indication of wisdom. It’s something that belongs on a resume, and it’s definitely not an indication of somebody’s ability to think. I’ve chosen four generations for my categories.

The younger generation consists of people who think they’re right irrespective of what anybody else thinks. (I’ve seen some 60 somethings who fit well into this category.)

The middle generation are the people who look at the younger generation and think they don’t have enough knowledge on which to base their assumptions. Their most common phrase is,”Leave them alone, they will learn in time.” They think the older generation are a little crazy. How could they not care what everybody else is thinking.

The older generation are the free spirits, they’re too busy enjoying the life they’ve been given to worry about whether other people think or not.

The enlightened generations are the real thinkers. They are the philosophers, the open-minded people who have some knowledge about things, but they realise there is more to learn about everything.
The above is empirical information; I think I’ve belonged to each category at different times of my life; in fact, sometimes I think I’ve experienced all four generations in the same week.
I’ll leave you with this quote,

“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” ~ Marcus Aurelius
