Stop expecting people to be better than they are

Stop

“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.” ~Donald Miller.

“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.” ~Bruce Lee.

“You can’t expect people to be like you.” ~Being Erica

Some of you will be surprised to know some people act in a certain way because they believe that’s how somebody like them is expected to act. That reminds of the following quote: “All the world’s a stage,. And all the men and women merely players.” ~William Shakespeare

In the same way, our expectations of people often prevent us from seeing them for who they really are too, for example, you expect doctors to look and behave like doctors, but they are only men and women; and just like you, who have their own expectations of how they should act and how patients should behave, however, your expectations of how Presidents and Prime Ministers should behave may be changing around now.

Everything you know about somebody creates expectations, however, if you can move past this point and just allow people to show you who they are every day, you will be more accepting of them because people are capable of changing if you’re open to seeing change. I’ll leave you with one final thought;

Everybody’s idea of doing the right thing is different. “Live and let live.” ~you can’t change them anyway.
