Stories and essays on identity, creative thought, and everyday common sense.

You will only accept compliments you agree with

new year resolution

“The doubts you cling to will not be eased through flattery.”

If you need me to tell you, “you’re beautiful,” before you believe you are beautiful, you will not believe me. You can exchange that adjective for any other, be it intelligent, funny, witty, charming, it doesn’t matter because you will only agree with things you believe about yourself.

The person who believes in themselves will not need to hear somebody else agreeing with them, however, their words will always flatter the ego, and even the most positive person appreciates that from time to time.

It’s worth remembering: You can believe anything you want to believe about yourself and for you it will be true.

I’ll leave you with one final thought, everybody’s New Year’s resolution should be:

You already have everything you need to get everything you want.
