Does the answer to this question continually change as you mature? For me, the answer is yes. I’ve moved on from wanting to be an alcoholic, homeless, angry, and thinking nothing is ever going to work out for me. These days, I focus on finding contentment, joy, and happiness in everything I do. I’ve learned to let go of my ego, I no longer think I’m more intelligent or better than anybody else for one simple reason. I’m not better than anybody else. Everybody is trying to find their way through life as best they can with the talents they’ve been given.
I’ll leave you with this quote:
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” ~John Lennon.
