Yesterday’s heroes are remembered as villains today by people who don’t understand. We are living at a different time. “Why, you ask? Because the values that held true in times past are no longer valid today.
The people who live in the past and blame historic figures for the misfortunes they are experiencing today will tear down the statues of people they associate with their current situation.
Will it make any difference to their lives? No, of course not. That kind of behaviour only gets people into trouble. It does nothing to improve their situation.
The world is slowly but surely realising that dialogue is the only way to improve any situation, God knows we’ve tried violence enough times in the past to realise it only creates death, not solutions.
Today’s heroes are the people who speak with authority and get things done that improve the world. Will they be remembered 100 years from today as villains? Who knows? That’s for future generations and history books to decide.
