Something New Every Day

Stories and essays on identity, creative thought, and everyday common sense.

Has originality left the station

Gosh, I never that before, are words that are not used by people online.

Everything is regurgitated on a daily basis. People looking for likes and shares because they’re somehow being victimised is the most popular after someone wants you to praise some God or other because you are alive. Mind you, there’s nothing wrong with being grateful for being alive, but I doubt if any God would be trolling the internet looking for praise.

The next most popular one is women telling you how to look after your man with a frying pan and men telling you how to avoid the wrath of a woman by remaining silent.

Little Johnny gets the blame for everything grownups won’t say out loud.

Stupid people don’t fair well either. They get branded stupid for having a different opinion to other stupid people. Intelligent people don’t fare well because people who don’t understand what they’re saying will call them stupid.

Positive quotes are shared by thousands of positive people with other people who are already positive. The people who need to hear them are too busy being victims to read them.

Another popular one is people offering what they don’t have. Would you stay in this cabin for three months without electricity for a million bucks? Like these people have a cabin in the wilderness.

Of course there are quite a number of posts with sponsored in the small print trying to get your money and attention, we’ll have to put up with those because if they ever stop, we’d have to pay to go online to see the good stuff.

Last but not least is the number of people who are fortune tellers. They’re telling everyone who’ll listen, “You’ll regret losing me when I’m gone.” That may or may not be true, but what I do know is, they’re not going to change that sentiment by posting it online.
