FIELD OBSERVATIONS
For a brief sniff of a second, I thought life could be described simply. Then I realised that was as silly as thinking that the postman’s job was to deliver belly rubs. Allow me to explain.
The sun rises. The sun sets. The wind does as it pleases. Water falls from the sky—sometimes politely, sometimes like bath time gone rogue. Humans call this “weather.” Dogs call it “walk sabotage.”
Humans grow food. Some eat too much, others too little. All humans act, a few get paid for it, but dogs know they’re always acting.

Everyone needs exercise. Some humans run marathons; others watch marathons from their sofas with snacks. Dogs supervise both activities because somebody has to.
Men and women? Confusing. Men sometimes aren’t thinking at all. Women try to guess what men are thinking. Dogs know: it’s food.
Every human has emotions—some hide them, some display them dramatically. Dogs simply wag, growl, or flop onto the floor, which saves time for everyone.
Nobody knows where life began. Everybody starts projects. Few finish. (See: half-chewed slippers abandoned under the stairs.) 😀
Ignorance is the loudest sound in the universe, louder even than vacuum cleaners. Beauty, on the other paw, is in the eye of the beholder. Unless the beholder is me. Then beauty is roast chicken.
Humans believe in fate, science, or both. Dogs believe in naps, squeaky toys, and the eternal truth of Treat Time.
For every human who breaks the rules and gets caught, another sneaks away. For every bully, there’s someone bullied. Most humans look away. Dogs don’t—we bark.
Hearts break, heal, and break again. Humans work jobs they dislike. The lucky find ones they love. Dogs? We work in unconditional love. Full-time, no overtime pay.
Humans buy more of what they want than what they need. Dogs stick to essentials: food, love, and more food.
Humans let emotions control them. Dogs let tails do the same. (Surprisingly similar outcomes) 😀
Change is inevitable. Just when you get comfy on the sofa—boom. Washing day.
Humans imagine troubles, search for proof of their beliefs, and argue about real versus fake news. Dogs stick to sniffing out the truth, often buried in the garden.
Humans look to others to figure out who they are. Dogs never wonder. We know: we are protectors of snacks, guardians of naps, and professional tail-chasers.
And after all this? The conversation always returns to one topic. The universal obsession. The eternal icebreaker.
The weather.
MISSION CONCLUSION
Life is complicated. Dogs understand this. Humans pretend to. But if you want the real answer, here it is:
The weather decides everything.
Now then—what’s the weather like where you are today? And, more importantly… is it walkies’ weather?
