“It is in our darkest days that we must focus and see the light.” ~Aristotle Onassis.
What a wonderful quote, but where is this light going to come from? Is it going to be found on the inspirational pages on the internet or in the sanguine words of your friends? Yes, they can both help to lighten our mood, but they’re only a short-term solution to a long-term problem.
I believe the light Aristotle was referring to is your achievements. In the beginning, they are mere sparks in the recesses of your mind, but they have the ability to become the flames of inspiration to cling to during difficult times of your life.
Remember, you have accomplished many things during your lifetime, such as your ability to walk and run with your head held high. You do not remember learning these skills, but they are huge accomplishments. Your first love, and yes I’m talking about the emotional bond between you and your mother and father, they are the memories that will help you through, think of the way they smiled at you with unashamed love with every movement you made.
Your academic and sporting achievements are worth reliving. The first exam you passed will have filled you with pride, and the first time you didn’t get picked last for the football team will have left you with a smile as broad as a barn door. These are simple examples of your achievements, but these are the kind of thoughts that will kindle the spark of inspiration in your mind, the achievements do not have to be big ones but they do have to be personal to you.
One of my own achievements is climbing to the top of a rope at my daughters gymnastic class, for onlookers it was nothing special but from my point of view it was a minor miracle because I really didn’t know if I was going to be able to climb it at all.
When you focus on the positive memories from your past, you will be positively inspired moving forward, it will not happen overnight because, as with all changes in thought patterns, it will take time, but it is time that will be well spent.
“The inspirational spark you need is always inside you.”
Till later, I hope you have a great day.
