Never have so many people stayed where they didn’t want to be.
This is the kind of post (the one in the image) where you’d think nobody would have a positive reaction. The people who agreed with it would have followed it’s advice, turned off their device and departed to their favourite place to relax. The people who disagreed with it would’ve ignored it and kept on scrolling. However.
As you can see from the reactions to the post, truth is stranger than fiction. 116 thousand people liked the post, 11 thousand people spent their time leaving a comment and 34 thousand people shared it with their friends to let them know they didn’t want to be online 🤣.
All I can say is, common sense will not be used to explain the results because it’s obvious it’s not being used by the people who responded to the post.
The post did make me question people’s behaviour both online and offline which lead me to postulate the following.
How many people are actually doing what they want to do?
Any how many people are doing things because they never honestly answered the following question, what do I really want to do with my life?
The universe is a wonderful, beautiful and dangerous place to exist. We are travelling around that universe on a spinning rock whose origins are found in stardust..
That rock is the one we call Earth or home is currently trying to throw us off its surface while gravity (the air above our head) is trying to squash us to the same surface. The balancing act between the two forces allows us move. Some people are able fast or slow depending on how much mass (or weight) is exposed.
Our planet was once a boiling blob of molten rock where no life existed at all, which begets the question, where did the spark of life in any shape or form originate? A miracle never to be fully explained, perhaps.
Some people believe a God provided the first spark. Scientists are trying to disprove that theory on a daily basis but haven’t succeed thus far.
Although I think I understand why our ancestors had so many Gods, it seems to be human nature both past and present to find somebody to blame when things go awry.
I can also understand why a lot of people put their fate in the hands of the scientists in today’s world because they can explain how and why the universe works. A lot of yesterday’s miracles have been explained by the them which resulted in people (I’d like to think) no-longer make sacrifices to appease their God, and the world is definitely not flat.
I’ll leave you with one final thought.
The miracle of life is something everybody gets to experience every day, and yet so many people take it for granted until they’re in danger of losing their miracle.
How you react to feeling frustrated will influence your future well-being.
Frustration: Frustration isthe feeling of being annoyed as a result of not being able to complete a task or achieve a goal.
I’ve used the word annoyed in the meaning. However, that can be interchanged with any of the following depending on the level of frustration.
Anger, depressed, bitterness, exasperated, disappointed, discouraged, dissatisfied, discontent, or just sitting there shaking your head in wonder.
Introspective or projective responses to frustration.
The reason your response to frustration determines your future is that if you internalize your response, your mental health will suffer, which will almost certainly lead to physical health problems down the road. (The deeply unhappy person who had a smile for everybody.)
If you project your frustration onto everybody you interact with, you can be sure your circle of friends and work colleagues will diminish. You may not be aware of the change in them at first until you notice they don’t come around anymore. (Shh, they’re coming is whispered.)
The moral of the story is that you need to have a balanced reaction to frustration, which leads to a balanced decision-making process.
How to develop a balanced reaction to frustration.
The first step is to acknowledge that you are the source of your frustration.
Your expectations of what you hope to achieve vs. all the people who you believe are blocking your path to what you deserve. They don’t exist. Nobody is trying to stifle your progress, and they’re trying to do what’s best for them in their current situation.
The second step is to determine if your goal is realistic. If you work in the mail room, there’s a good possibility they won’t consider your application for editor seriously.
The third step is to determine what you need to change about yourself to achieve your goal. Education, experience, or personality. A good way to achieve this is to check the background of other people who’ve already achieved the goal you’re trying to achieve. If you can’t find that information, ask them personally.
The fourth step is to determine what length of time you will give yourself to achieve your goal. This needs to be set in stone. There’s no point in procrastinating for years in the hope things will change. That’s what got you frustrated in the first place.
The fifth step is called the slide because you have to slide back to the first step and start all over again.
The last line is the most important line.
While you are the source of your frustration, that you is not just the person you are today, it’s everything you have brought with you since you were a small child, Which is a great place to start when you’re looking for answers to today’s frustration.
Sorry, it should go without saying. The answers to frustration may be found in your past. However, regretting your past is not the answer.
A level playing field is where your journey begins. Jealousy, envy or pity don’t have any place on that journey because there’s nothing positive to be gained by embracing them.
If you feel those emotions, or feel them being expressed towards you by the people you hang around with, you’ve got two choices.
Leave the field you’re in or find a way to feel at peace where you are.
Remember. All people are equal at birth and death. Class is something society creates to make some people feel important.
A good cook will follow a recipe. A chef will play around with the ingredients of a recipe. A Michelin star chef doesn’t need a recipe because he/she understands the purpose behind using certain ingredients to create a perfectly balanced meal.
The same theory will apply to everything you want to achieve in life. Everybody is born with ability, it’s what they do with it that makes the difference.
Using cooking as an example. Everybody has the ability to be a good cook, however, very few people will be passionate enough to take the time to understand the qualities of raw ingredients to become a Michelin star chef.
I’ll leave you with one final sentence. Ability will only get you to the starting line, you need passion to win the race.
