You have to carry more weight to improve

The person who gains weight and then loses the weight will be stronger for it.

I bought a pair of walking shoes recently that were quite a bit heavier than the light training shoes I normally wore for my daily walk. The first time I wore them I noticed the difference, I didn’t walk as quickly and I felt aches after my walk I hadn’t felt in a while. Over a period of a few weeks I stopped feeling the aches and I was back walking as quickly as normal. The walking shoes hadn’t got lighter, my legs had grown stronger.

That’s a little story about shoes but it applies to everything do in your life. Every time you take on an extra responsibility, a new job, start an exercise program or get promoted you’ll notice the extra strain on you, however, if you persevere, in time, you will grow strong enough to handle the extra weight. The secret is give yourself enough time to adapt. I’ll leave you with a quote that epitomizes the story.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one who’s most adaptable to change.” -Charles Darwin.
