When there is no benefit

“Correct me if I’m wrong” are words spoken by someone who believes they are right, and even if people provide evidence to the contrary, it’s unlikely they will accept that evidence as true.

Why? Because that’s how the mind works. It constantly looks for information to back up previously held beliefs because it doesn’t want you to create a battle within your mind that will cause distress.

Of course, there are some open-minded people who have the capacity to question their own belief system. However, they are as rare as hen’s teeth. It’s for that very reason you should always think before replying to, “Correct me if I’m wrong,” statements. The questions you should ask yourself are, is it necessary to correct them? How will it benefit you? If both answers are negative, you’re better off remaining silent.
