Your feelings are yours to choose

You will feel whatever you want to feel whenever you want to feel because you choose your feelings.

Ireland came second in their world Cup quarter final with New Zealand last night. The Irish fans’ reaction to that defeat were feelings because each fan chose how they felt. However, they may believe it wasn’t their choice, but they are both right and wrong.

You see, they made a choice of how they felt. They just didn’t make that choice last night. That choice was made a long time ago. It was the feeling they nurtured whenever they encountered failure.

Of course, the Irish fans will overcome those feelings quite quickly because it didn’t affect their lives in any meaningful way. It was a rugby match, an important one at the time, but still, only one match.

The feelings you nurture that affect your personal life are inclined to stay with you for a longer length of time. That’s great if you’re generally happy with the life you’re living. However, if you’re sad or angry about your life, that’s not so good.

The thing worth remembering is that you can feel positive, negative, or indifferent about your past, and it will not affect your past. However, it has a huge impact on your present and your future.

I’ll leave you with one final thought.

If you feel like everything is always going to work out for you, it probably will, and even if it doesn’t, it will work out for you the next time.

P.S. Choose to nurture your positive feelings.
