My Beach Adventure: The Fish and Chip Mission. As told by Bella (Head of the Bella Fun Committee).
The Goal:
- Go for a walk on the beach.
- Get and eat a delicious piece of fish.
- Convince my humans to share their chips.

Our walk started perfectly. The beach was full of incredible smells, telling me all the stories of the dogs who’d been there before me. My humans, Brian and Claire, were with me, strolling along happily. They’d no idea things were about to get very exciting.
The ocean was being sneaky.
What started as a quiet little stream that wouldn’t even wet my paws had turned into a fast-moving channel of water, cutting us off from dry land. A deep strip of sea now stood between us and the path that led to the most important place of all: the fish and chip shop.
Brian clearly had an idea he hadn’t shared with me—until he said, “Hold on, Bella!”
And suddenly, we were flying through the air!
In one big lift, he carried me over the rushing water and set me down safely on the other side. I landed perfectly, of course. My tail was in full control the whole time.
But now Claire was stuck on the wrong side! Brian looked for a moment like he was about to jump back to help her—until she looked at the water, sighed, looked up for a bit of courage, and then got brave. Off came her shoes and socks. She rolled up her trousers, took a deep breath, and waded right through the cold water—her scarf fluttering like a flag of courage.
I watched her carefully and gave a little whine that meant, “You’ve got this!”
She made it across—wet, but fine. I wagged my tail so hard it nearly came off. After a quick dry-off with her scarf, we marched straight toward the glorious smell. The mission was back on!

The fish was everything I’d dreamed of. The air was thick with the smell of golden batter and fresh white fish. My humans got me my very own piece, and I gobbled it down in seconds. Perfection achieved.
Then came the chips. I employed my most powerful tool: the Stare of Canine Longing. I watched carefully, eyes wide and unblinking, until my persistence paid off. A few perfect, greasy chips were tossed my way. I caught them mid-air.
Chip mission: accomplished!
That’s when the seagulls appeared.
A whole squadron of them swooped and squawked, trying to steal any fallen scraps. After Brian and Claire finished their chips, they tossed a few leftovers into the air, and the gulls caught them with impressive precision. I leapt into action, charging and barking to defend our position.
I didn’t catch any gulls (they’re very quick), but they definitely learned who was in charge.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in soft gold, we headed home. The mission was a complete success: we beat the tide, I got my fish and my chips, and we had a fun battle with the gulls.
Curled up on my bed that night, I thought about our day.
My Final Thoughts:
The water might come in.
The seagulls might swoop.
But I always get my fish in the end.
Mission accomplished! 🐾
