Author’s Note
On Injustice, Influence, and the Quiet Hope I Carry.
There is no shortage of injustice in the world. You see it in the news, in the systems we move through, in the stories people carry but rarely tell out loud. And yet, I do not write about those injustices—not because they don’t matter, but because I have absolutely no influence over them. I can’t change governments, rewrite laws, or shift the tides of global decisions. That is not the arena where my strength lives.

And if I’m honest, I don’t have control over the readers of my books either.
Some people will never pick up anything I write. They will never ask themselves the questions that shape my pages—the questions about meaning, direction, fear, courage, identity, and the darkness we each carry quietly. I sometimes envy those people. Not because they are uninterested, but because they seem to be living what looks like a perfectly uncomplicated life. Or at least, a life uncomplicated by the kind of inner searching that has shaped mine.
But this note is not for them.
It’s for you.
You, who chose to open this book. You, who allowed a question—perhaps a quiet, persistent one—to guide you here. You, who is willing to pause long enough to wonder if there is more to life than the shadows you’ve learned to walk through.
I may not be able to change the world.
But my hope—my sincere, humble hope—is that something in these pages helps you change yours.
Not through grand gestures. Not through sudden transformations. But through subtle shifts in how you think, feel, respond, and show up for yourself. Through learning how to be a positive influence on your own life—because that is the one place where your power is real, immediate, and profound.
If these words help you recognise your strength, soften your self-judgment, or step into your next chapter with a little more clarity and confidence, then I have accomplished something far greater than influence.
I have connected with you.
And in a world full of noise, uncertainty, and injustice, that connection—quiet, human, and sincere—might be the most meaningful thing any of us can offer.
