I Am Good Enough.

I am good enough.

I was always good enough.

And I will always be good enough for the people who truly matter.

But perhaps there is something I have misunderstood.

For a long time, I thought I had to become good enough.

Good enough for other people.

Good enough for their approval.

Good enough to be loved, respected, accepted, noticed.

So I tried to prove it.

I worked harder.

I achieved more.

I tried to be more useful, more successful, more understanding, more patient, more everything.

And every time I achieved something, I thought:

See? I am good enough.

But there was always another test.

Another expectation.

Another person whose approval I hadn’t earned.

Another version of myself I thought I needed to become.

Perhaps that is the trap.

Because the more you try to prove that you are good enough, the more you quietly tell yourself that perhaps you aren’t.

You keep collecting evidence for a case that never needed to go to court.

What if being good enough was never something you had to earn?

What if you were good enough before you achieved anything?

Before anyone applauded.

Before anyone noticed.

Before you became successful.

Before you became the person you thought you needed to be.

That doesn’t mean you cannot improve.

It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t grow.

It doesn’t mean you should accept everything about yourself.

You can still learn.

You can still change.

You can still become better.

But there is a difference between becoming better because you believe you are inadequate and becoming better because you believe you are capable of more.

One is punishment.

The other is possibility.

You can make a mistake without becoming a mistake.

You can fail without becoming a failure.

You can need to change without deciding that there is something fundamentally wrong with you.

And perhaps the people who truly matter understand this.

They don’t require you to continually prove your worth.

They see the person underneath the achievements.

The person who sometimes gets things right.

The person who sometimes gets things spectacularly wrong.

The person who is still learning.

Still becoming.

Still human.

But there is one more person who needs to matter.

You.

Perhaps the person you have been trying hardest to convince that you are good enough is yourself.

And perhaps that is where the real work begins.

Not becoming good enough.

But becoming one of the people who believes you already are.

Stop asking:

“What do I need to do to become good enough?”

And start asking:

“If I already believed I was good enough, what would I choose to do next?”

You might still chase the dream.

You might still work hard.

You might still grow.

You might still become more than you were before.

Click

But you would no longer be trying to earn the right to feel worthy.

You would simply be discovering what you are capable of.

Maybe that is the freedom we have been looking for.

Not finally becoming good enough.

But finally realising that we always were.
