The greatest gift any parent can give their children is the gift of happiness. It’s unfortunate that It’s a gift that can’t be given. However, they can show their children where to find it. Ben lost his parents early in life, so he had to rely on Thomas to show him where to find it. This is his story.
Ben had always been a man of modest ambitions, content with his simple life in a quiet, coastal town. The sea was his constant companion; its rhythmic waves a soothing backdrop to his daily routine. Despite the tranquillity surrounding him, Ben harboured a persistent dream: to achieve true peace of mind.
This dream was unlikely not because it was grandiose but because it seemed elusive. Ben’s mind was a labyrinth of worries and regrets, tangled thoughts that kept him awake at night. He had lost his parents at a young age and carried the weight of their memory with him, their absence a shadow that never quite lifted.
One summer morning, as Ben walked along the shore, he met an old fisherman named Thomas. Thomas was known in the town for his wisdom and uncanny ability to navigate both the sea and the complexities of life. Ben found himself drawn to Thomas, hoping that the old man might hold the key to his elusive dream.

“Thomas,” Ben began one day as they sat on the dock, their feet dangling over the water, “how do you find peace of mind?”
Thomas chuckled, his weathered face crinkling into a smile. “Peace of mind, eh? It’s a tricky one. It’s not something you can catch like a fish. It takes time and patience.”
Undeterred, Ben persisted. “But where do I start? My mind is always restless.”
Thomas looked out at the horizon, his eyes following the flight of a distant seagull. “Start with acceptance, Ben. Accept the past and let it rest. Your parents, they wouldn’t want you to carry their loss as a burden.”
