Stories and essays on identity, creative thought, and everyday common sense.

Everything you do is the right thing to do, even if you change your mind later.

It’s a simple way of looking at the theory of life. However, there are far-reaching consequences to living your life using that philosophy, such as:

1. Living Without Regret

The philosophy allows you to accept that every action you take aligns with your current understanding, values, and circumstances. When you later gain new experiences or insights that might change your view, it doesn’t invalidate your past choices. Instead, those choices were necessary steps that brought you to this new awareness.

2. Self-Trust and Authenticity

By believing that “everything you do is the right thing to do,” you develop a deep trust in yourself. You start acting based on what feels true to you, rather than what others might expect or approve of. This builds a sense of authenticity because your actions stem from your real values and feelings rather than fear of making the “wrong” decision.

3. Embracing Change as Growth

When you change your mind or take a different path, it’s not a sign of failure or inconsistency; it’s growth. Our beliefs and desires evolve as we do. This philosophy encourages you to honour that evolution and to view each change of mind as a positive shift rather than a betrayal of your past self.

4. Forgiving Yourself for Past Mistakes

Often, regret arises from feeling that we made “wrong” choices. But if every choice was simply right for that particular moment, then there’s less room for self-blame. This perspective allows for self-compassion, making it easier to forgive past mistakes and move forward without being bogged down by them.

5. Viewing Life as a Learning Journey

In this philosophy, life is a process of discovery rather than a pursuit of perfection. Each action, each change of heart, contributes to the mosaic of who you are becoming. This attitude makes it easier to see life as a journey, where each step holds meaning and contributes to personal growth.

In essence, this philosophy encourages aligning with your present reality, accepting yourself fully in each moment, and believing that life unfolds with purpose, even if that purpose remains unclear and it’s always open to change.

P.S. The title, “The Review from Your Future,” is entirely accurate for most people because the decisions they make only seem to make sense when they’re looking back at them.
