We live in an age where information is at our fingertips, yet ignorance persists—not because people can’t access knowledge, but because they actively avoid it. This paradox of intentional blindness is everywhere, shaping how we approach politics, health, social issues, and even technology. But why do people turn away from truths that could empower them? The answer lies, not in a lack of intelligence but in psychological, emotional, and social systems designed to protect us from discomfort.

However, while the availability of knowledge online is a relatively new thing, the truth is that turning a blind eye has protected the wrong people for hundreds, if not thousands of years. In recent and not so recent times, the clergy are an excellent example of people ignoring the truth. In very recent years, Jeffrey Epstein, to name but one of many famous celebrities who benefited from the same protection at a cost to the vulnerable in our society.
