Digital Wisdom: 12 Rules for a Healthier Online Life.
So much of what floods our feeds is clutter, controversy, or noise. But some messages are worth amplifying. This is one of them.
In an age of infinite information and finite attention, a little common sense isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. Here’s a reminder for all of us:

- The blue tick is a status symbol, not a truth guarantee. Anyone can post anything. Cultivate a habit of healthy scepticism before you believe, and certainly before you share.
- If it seems too good to be true, it is. Online, the currency of clicks often outweighs the value of honesty. Promises are cheap; your trust and time are not.
- Your attention is your most valuable asset. Spend it like money. Not every notification deserves a withdrawal from your mental bank.
- You have the right to remain silent. You don’t need to have an opinion on everything, and you certainly don’t need to publish it. Listening is a superpower.
- You can’t win an argument with a stranger in a comments section. The goal is rarely understanding; the cost is always your energy and peace.
- Anonymity is not an excuse. If you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face, don’t type it. Your character is defined by what you do when you think no one is looking.
- Document the moment, but don’t miss it. Your memory is for experiencing; your camera is for assisting. Prioritize the feeling over the feed.
- Your digital keys are as critical as your physical ones. A password isn’t just a word—it’s the lock on your financial, social, and personal identity.
- Never make a permanent decision in a temporary state. Fatigue, hunger, and stress corrupt judgment. Log off and recharge before you react.
- Curate your intake like you curate your meals. What you consume online directly impacts your mental health. Audit your follows regularly.
- Fact-check before you react. A post designed to outrage is often designed to mislead. Pause. Verify. Then engage.
- Set boundaries for your availability. You are not required to be perpetually online or instantly responsive. Your offline life deserves uninterrupted presence.
Share this—not for the applause, but for the awakening.
Social media has enough noise. Let’s add more wisdom.
